Widows are accused of responsibility for their husband's death. 2 Economic Exclusion Limited job opportunities, inadequate access to education and training, and social stigma push single mothers deeper into poverty. 3 Systemic Poverty In Delhi, approximately 9% of households are headed by single mothers, many of whom live in poverty and struggle to meet basic needs. Consequences for Families Children growing up in households headed by single mothers are more likely to experience poverty, malnutrition, and limited access to education and healthcare. → 9% of Delhi households are headed by single mothers Mental & Physical Impact Single mothers themselves face social isolation, mental health challenges, and physical health issues — creating a compounding cycle of disadvantage that this project directly targets.
